Day 55: Ladies love Frankie Michael

Today was a good day. No new changes. Frankie is still not the biggest fan of his bottles but he is taking more than yesterday. He took about 15-20ml each time. His nurse from last night did get him to take 51ml at 5am though!!

I did speak to the attending doctor Joanie today. They were hoping to have us home by turkey day but it isn't looking like that will be the case anymore. They want to watch him on his roids for a couple more weeks just to make sure that we don't end up back here again after being home for a couple of days. She said that Frankie is doing well, though. She asked if we would be okay going home on the NG tube also. I said, absolutely. They would teach us how to insert the tube so that we could change it out at home when necessary until he is on full bottle feeds. She felt confident that we would make it home by the end of November though. They just want to make sure the steroids are doing the trick and that we don't turn around and come back and get stuck here again. I totally understand this and am thankful for them being on top of things but we were really hoping to eat turkey. It is still possible but not as much as before. :(

In other news, Hollie and I spent the day together and it was great. We ate some lunch, went shopping at Babies R Us and then we came up here and spent the rest of the day with Frankie. She finally got to hold him (last time he was roid raging too bad)! We also spent time playing on the floor and he slept in Hollie's arms for awhile, too. Naked Nate and Janelle also came up tonight! Janelle made one hell of a roast with mashed potatoes and corn. It was fantastic! Home cooked meal hit the spot for sure! Oh, and don't forget the tasty brownies with peanut butter chips and chocolate chips in them. I ate way too many. Thanks for dinner guys! We then hung out with Frankie and then all four of us hung out in the kitchen and chatted for a bit. Felt good to be with friends and feel a little normalcy again.

When Joe and I re-wrapped Frankie tonight, man.... His omphalocele is really getting smaller! It looked great. Lots of new skin growing up on it and we just couldn't get over how much smaller it looked. Even when it's wrapped it doesn't look as large. Go Frankie! Frankie's weight is still on a steady increase and his heart rate, breaths per minute and oxygen saturation is all looking good, too. So, no major changes today. Just a good day.

Love to you all!
 Happy little booger :)
